Excerpt A microgrid is a grouping of generating sources and end use loads that operate in a semi-autonomous fashion for the benefit of hte microgrid participants. The microdprid includes distributed resources capable of serving one or more customers independent from the grid either full-time or in the event of a grid power failure.
The generating sources may include microturbines, fuel cells, photovoltaic systems, and storage devices, all of which are interconnected through power electronic devices. A critical microgrid feature is that it appears to the distribution system to be a single customer ... The communicative coupling includes a means for senidng messages for control and certain actions by the agent to one another and to different levels in the hierarchy.
