Excerpt
Excerpt This paper describes methods for monitoring electrical loads in an automotive environment. While presenting methods with general applicability, we focus on preprocessing, detecting, and identifying current transients in a 1986 Chevrolet Nova. Hall-effect current transducers are installed in the vehicle, and data are measured and analyzed in real time with a data acquisition system and a laptop computer. Modifications to the vehicle are negligible, and data presented is from actual use under typical driving conditions. Analysis capabilities presently include detection and classification of transients, and parameter estimation of electromechanical loads given differential equation models. |
