A stack pointer tracker allows early resolution of stack address references by keeping the track of the value of the stack pointer(SP). Early address resolution allows the issuing of stack memory operations (eg. stack loads, stack stores, etc.) earlier, improving the load-to-use latency and increasing the instruction level parallelism. Absolute address tracking allows the early resolution of constant-address loads. Displacement based tracking relates to loads with addreses of the form <reg+/-immediate> by tracking the values of general-purpose registers." |

A method comprising:
monitoring an access to a stack pointer to update a stack tracker structure;
using information stored in the stack tracker structure to generate a distance value corresponding to a relative distance between a load instruction and a previous store instruction within a store buffer; and
using the distance value to provide source data for the load instruction.
