Processing queries on hierarchical markup data using shared hierarchical markup trees

Pre-Grant Publication Number: 20080091649
Title: Processing queries on hierarchical markup data using shared hierarchical markup trees
Inventors: Lipyeow Lim, Haixun Wang, Min Wang
Assignees: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION

Abstract: Disclosed are a method, information processing system, and computer readable medium for processing queries. The method includes receiving a data query for a set of hierarchical markup documents. At least one query path expression is extracted from the data query. The query path is processed against at least one shared hierarchical markup document in a plurality of shared hierarchical markup documents. The plurality of shared hierarchical documents is associated with the set of hierarchical markup documents. In response to the shared hierarchical markup document completely matching the query path expression, a query result for the data query is generated. The query result is based on the processing of the query path expression against at least one of the shared hierarchical markup document and the difference hierarchical markup document.

Enhanced server to client session inspection

Pre-Grant Publication Number: 20080098477
Title: Enhanced server to client session inspection
Inventors: CRAIG ALLEN WILLIAMS, Gerald S. Lathem
Assignees: CISCO

Abstract: In one embodiment, a technique for enhancing the inspection of data sent from a server is provided. By modifying a client request in an effort to prevent the transformation (e.g., encoding and/or compression) of data by the server, unencoded data may be received, which can be inspected without the overhead associated with first decoding the data. Further, in the event the data is encoded despite modifying the client request to prevent such encoding, the server may be untrustworthy and one or more appropriate actions may be taken.

Pre-Grant Publication Number: 20080082878
Title: System and method to support use of bus spare wires in connection modules
Inventors: Mark A. Check, Jonathan Y. Chen, Thomas G. Foote, Timothy J. Slegel
Assignees: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION

Abstract: In a computer system with multiple chips connected via a connection module with high speed elastic interface buses that support bus repair is enhanced by use of a spare net. Support is provided to ensure that the spare net can be tested in the same way that every normal bus net can be tested at all supported environments. It ensure that the system controller can find out what connections are bad and how to apply the controls to repair them for all tests and in the field for the customer.

Methods of de identifying an object data

Pre-Grant Publication Number: 20080077604
Title: Methods of de identifying an object data
Inventors: Aavishkar Bharara
Assignees: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY

Abstract: In an embodiment, the invention provides a method of de identifying an object data. The method comprises steps of obtaining the object data, the object data being data concerning a medical object, identifying at least one confidential identification data in the object data, the confidential identification data being a confidential data for identifying the medical object, filtering the confidential identification data from the object data and replacing the confidential identification data with at least one standard character.

Recommending contacts in a social network

Pre-Grant Publication Number: 20080059576
Title: Recommending contacts in a social network
Inventors: Dafan Liu, Hua Chen, Wei-Ying Ma
Assignees: Microsoft Corporation

Abstract: A method and system for recommending potential contacts to a target user is provided. A recommendation system identifies users who are related to the target user through no more than a maximum degree of separation. The recommendation system identifies the users by starting with the contacts of the target user and identifying users who are contacts of the target user's contacts, contacts of those contacts, and so on. The recommendation system then ranks the identified users, who are potential contacts for the target user, based on a likelihood that the target user will want to have a direct relationship with the identified users. The recommendation system then presents to the target user a ranking of the users who have not been filtered out.

Detecting missing elements in a storage area network with multiple sources of information

Pre-Grant Publication Number: 20080059599
Title: Detecting missing elements in a storage area network with multiple sources of information
Inventors: Ashmi A. Chokshi, Glen Hattrup, David L. Merbach, Prasenjit Sarkar, Soumitra Sarkar
Assignees: International Business Machines Corporation

Abstract: A detectibility service for a storage infrastructure manager (SIM) operating on a storage area network (SAN) is disclosed directed to addressing a situation where there may be multiple sources of duplicate or contradictory information to the SIM about the presence and condition of an element in the SAN. The service can account for both authoritative as well as nonauthoritative sources of information in a SAN, which participate in the discovery process scanning for SAN elements. Both authoritative and nonauthoritative sources of information can be used to report a given SAN element during a probe, taking advantage of the more efficient processing of information from authoritative sources to override information from nonauthoritative sources regardless of the order in which the various scans may occur.
