The methods and claims here do not meet any standard of novelty that I would even dream of patenting.
My company, Trantor Standard Systems Inc, has been involved in active areas of research involving encryption, data compression, fault tolerance and 'error correction' as part of its 'Crypt Data Packaging' project since the early 1990's. This has included code written as long ago as 1985.
Pertinent to this application in question is the logging architecture used by the company and described here.

A directive in the above says "It should not be incompatible with automating some types of trouble-shooting". In fact, one of our production systems in use since 2003 contains the described logging architecture, including some automated error recovery.
The first copyright date on a file using such a logging system is 1991 in a file called TSDEBUG.H. At least one variant exists in a production system at Bell Atlantic from a few years later (approx 1994).
The file includes, amongst other things:
