Patent/Application # 6978377
Description
This application appears to be covered by the use of Copy Control Information (CCI) (often linked to CDs, DVDs); however the general patent from Sony and its references are written inclusive of all datatypes between 2 systems and include a description of transmission of CCI along with the data. CCI data is well understood to be comprised of bit flags that signal copy permission, generational control and count among other things that 2 systems agree upon. These enforcements on top of CCI is left to the implementation and usually assumed to be some form of CP system (e.g. DRM).
