a mechanism for performing, in response to a determination that contents of a page should be moved to another page, steps comprising:
acquiring a mutex lock;
after acquiring the mutex lock, downgrading the mutex lock to a shared lock; and
after downgrading the mutex lock to a shared lock, invoking at least one of the one or more invocable routines.
